CITY OF DANVILLE: Your Ideas, Please - Danville Downtown Masterplan to be held Feb.19

Danville

City of Danville recently issued the following announcement.

Name: Your Ideas, Please - Danville Downtown Masterplan

Date: Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST

Location: Danville, Kentucky

Details

As the City of Danville Masterplan progresses it is important that we have robust community input in order to chart our needs and goals. On Wednesday February 19 the team from Bravura and Gersham Smith will be in Danville to hear from you! Beginning at 7:30 AM at The Hub Coffee Shop, participants will be asked a few brief questions such as why you visit, how are our public spaces, what opportunities and challenges exist. At 10:30 AM the team will then head to Center College in the Student Center outside of the Cowan Dining Hall for further input. The final session for the day will begin at 2:00 PM at the Boyle County Public Library and last through 5:30 PM. We encourage you to stop by at any one of the locations and give your input for this critical plan for our city going forward.

REIMAGINING DOWNTOWN DANVILLE

Building on the past to move boldly into the future.

The Study Area

Our study area focuses on the main corridors that run North to South, and East to West through the heart of Downtown Danville. Some of the key locations outside of the CBD Historic District are Centre College and Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.  The four major thoroughfares are 3rd and 4th Street travelling north and south, along with Main and Walnut Street travelling east and west, navigating the community in and out of downtown. Other local landmarks in and around our study area include Constitution Square, the Kentucky School for the Deaf,  and Michael M. Smith Memorial Park that runs along Clarks Run to the south.

The Project Schedule

The Reimagining Downtown Danville process will take place over approximately 8-months through the development of three phases of work.

Phase 1 is focused on listening and engaging the community while simultaneously collecting data and analyzing current issues and opportunities.

Phase 2 will build on the community input and data analysis. The team in partnership with the City and stakeholders will develop a series of ideas for how to address community concerns and leverage existing opportunities.

Phase 3 will focus on final development of the downtown plan, prioritization of projects and development of an implementation plan to kick-start the process.
