City of Danville issued the following announcement on Sept 18.
Project Summary: Jave Contracting is replacing the existing 2nd Street Bridge near J E Woods Drive and with a new 24’ wide steel reinforced concrete vehicular bridge with bituminous asphalt approaches and a new 6’8” wide steel reinforced concrete pedestrian bridge on its’ east side. Connecting sidewalks and landscaping will be added later by the City of Danville’s Public Works Department. While the vehicular bridge is unavailable detours will be marked with signs and Vehicle Message Boards (VMBs). Northbound traffic that usually uses 2nd Street will need to continue past the 2nd Street intersection traffic light and make their left or right turns once they are past the one way split starting with Fackler but preferably MLK, Walnut and Main Streets. Southbound 2nd Street traffic is encouraged to detour to 4th Street. We hope the closure is no more than two months.
